General Summary
Serve as the general field superintendent for projects as assigned by scheduling and allocating manpower and other resources, managing and supervising daily production and quality of field personnel (including subcontractors), and communicating with the customer and management team.
Essential Functions:
Schedule and allocate daily manpower and other resources for all assigned projects, as needed to maintain required project schedules, while maximizing project efficiency.
Confirm completeness and accuracy of daily timesheets for weekly payroll processing, insuring that time is correctly and accurately allocated to each project by activity of work, so that an accurate snapshot of project status and budget can be readily determined.
Visit project sites in advance of scheduled start date and communicate with customer regarding schedule status, sequencing of work, job site logistics and desired start dates. Review substrates for any irregularities that may present a problem for the products being utilized on the project.
For large and/or complex projects, schedule and take part in a pre-project planning meeting to review project scope, drawings, details, installation methods, production rates, schedule, phasing, etc. with appropriate sales estimator/project manager and project foreman.
Visit on-going projects daily to verify correct materials and methods are being utilized, correct layout of the materials, quality of the installations, production rates, schedule progress, materials and/or equipment that may be needed for upcoming portions of the work and adherence to safety policies
Address and resolve quality, production, safety, etc. issues directly with field personnel.
In daily visits to the project sites, communicate with the customer’s job site superintendent regarding ongoing progress of work, project schedule status, coordination of work with other trades, material delivery logistics, sequencing/phasing for the project, any project issues hindering progress and any quality or other concerns the customer may have.
Communicate with sales/management regarding project status with respect to quality, production, progress, schedule, budget, and any field issues hindering progress on the project.
Assist management as needed in preparing change orders and/or monthly billings.
Attend and actively participate in weekly production/scheduling meetings with Blakley management, regarding manpower and other resource allocation and planning for all on-going and upcoming projects.
Bring any potential field changes or work requests outside the specified scope to the attention of management.
When required, insure that daily signed time and material tickets are filled out and turned in to management.
Communicate with warehouse and management regarding upcoming project material and equipment needs and coordinate and schedule project material delivery with warehouse, job site personnel and the customer’s job site personnel.
In advance, secure additional labor resources that may be needed for certain projects and during certain busy periods, as determined in production meetings. Work to actively recruit new field personnel.
Comply with and enforce Blakley’s (and project site) safety policies, OSHA regulations, and hazardous communication for all personnel.
Knowledge and Other Characteristics:
Ability to supervise
Associate or Bachelors Degree in Construction Management or Technology or 5 years related business experience
Ability to schedule and multitask
Must be able to issue clear directions to construction workers
Be a proactive problem solver
Must have good communication skills
Be computer proficient
Required Physical Abilities:
Ability to bend, stoop, reach, stand, use stairs and move from one area of the building to another on a regular basis
Sit and use a computer for a long period of time
Manual and physical dexterity needed to operate a computer keyboard and mouse and handle paper documents
Sufficient near vision acuity to read information appearing on computer display screen, in handwritten forms, and printed on paper
Adequate hearing and verbal abilities to communicate effectively in person and by telephone
Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 60 pounds unassisted
