Concrete Prep Specialist

The Concrete Restoration division of a local company is seeking an experienced Construction worker to perform on an equipment intense Heavy Highway Concrete Prep Crew – Be part of a great team with opportunities for advancement! We specialize in the professional repair and restoration of virtually every type of commercial and industrial concrete application; from the most technologically challenging repairs, structural enhancements to waterproofing, coatings, cleaning, and restoration.

Candidates will be responsible for overseeing and carrying out duties necessary to complete projects. Additionally, candidates will train helper job classification in knowledge of duties and responsibilities of an Concrete Prep Specialist.

The primary responsibility of the Concrete Prep Specialist is to use shot blast machines, handheld grinders, stand up grinders, and scarifiers to prep concrete bridge decks for epoxy coatings.

The Concrete Prep Specialist will also be responsible for transportation of prep equipment to and from the jobsite in a company truck and trailer.  Projects are all located within the state of Indiana but could be in any location within the state.

The Concrete Prep Specialist is also responsible for maintenance of the prep equipment.  Mechanical experience on small engine equipment is not required but is a plus.

Because the Bridge Deck Prep is weather and temperature dependent, as well as subject to INDOT assigned Project Hours, Candidate would need a flexible schedule as working hours can vary greatly.

Candidates will also be cross-trained in the following additional job categories:

  • Concrete polishing
  • Coatings
  • Shotcrete
  • Decorative flooring
  • Structural concrete repair
  • Epoxy injection

Candidate must have 4-8 years of experience. Must be able to operate numerous concrete repair tools. Must be able to work and communicate with owners, engineers, inspectors, etc. Candidate must also be able to read, understand blueprints, and work well with crew to accomplish production and quality control goals. Candidate must be able to work in all weather conditions, heights up to 200’ off grade by scaffolding or man lifts. In addition, the ability to lift 50 pounds frequently and for continuous periods of time is required. Candidates must have reliable transportation and capable of passing a DOT physical to obtain DOT Driver Certification. Previous experience with commercial concrete restoration and repair is preferred. Candidates must be able to pass a 10 panel drug screen and criminal history background check.

We are a trade contractor and must have field workers available for the locations in which the jobs are located; this may include out of town locations, weekend work or days and evening shifts. We offer full benefits – Health – 401(k)

Salary Range: $24 - $32 per hour depending on experience, special pay rates apply to bridge deck prep work.

Required Physical Abilities:

Ability to bend, stoop, reach, stand, use stairs and move from one area of the building to another on a regular basis
Sufficient near vision acuity to read information appearing on computer display screen, in handwritten forms, and printed on paper
Adequate hearing and verbal abilities to communicate effectively in person and by telephone
Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted
